Daniel huffed at the young chimera kukuri as he crawled onto his handler's lap. Or rather, squirmed would be a more accurate word. There were a few painful and frenzied moments where wings were pulled out of the way and misplaced feet jabbed sensitive flesh before they both settled into some semblance of comfort. This rook was one of the more difficult to handle pups, and it took all one's energy just trying to keep him out of trouble, a task for which there was little reward. It wasn't that Spark wasn't affectionate. Rather he greeted everyone and everything with the same joy, before dancing off again. There seemed to be little distinction between the kukuri's attitude to Daniel and his attitude to complete strangers, despite the many, many more hours spent caring for him. Spark was the first kukuri to be assigned specifically to him. He'd worked with the others in the stables, helping many of the other handlers with their charges and observing the close bonds that could form between them. But he'd almost lost hope of such a connection to Spark. While he cared deeply for the him, the feeling didn't seem to be reciprocated. But maybe there was something there after all. He'd been sitting, content to simply watch his kukuri playing tag with a few other pups when the rook had bounded over and taken up position lying across his lap. It was rare to find quiet time with him especially when there was stuff he could play with, yet now the rook was perfectly content sharing a heartbeat. It was an act of trust he had not shown to another.
It was too warm, the itching of the stray straws and the overbearing weight of the kukuri against him nagged on his consciousness. One stiff wing was trapped uncomfortably under the dozing form but Daniel didn't dare move it. He wasn't going to break this moment. Instead he laid his head back against the piled cloth and closed his eyes as the chimera kukuri breathed peacefully against him.

Well now the Fungal Contamination Event is over my next goal is getting my kuku's breedable. I did have something else drawn for Spark's BTT 1 but I am not happy with how Daniel looks in it (I still have absolutely no idea what the hell his face is even supposed to be. Or his hair. Its different every time I draw him). So I did this thing instead. Daniel tends to doubt himself a lot and he needs confirmation that he's wanted but Spark isn't really that type. Spark just assumes you know he cares about you haha
